Universal’s Optima Plus program moves with the times

Universal Instruments has extended the scope of its Optima Plus line solutions to deliver limitless configuration choice, equipment capabilities and support initiatives, all backed up by application expertise to ensure performance. In focus of the expanded initiative is to ensure that each customer gets the most favorable equipment selection, configuration and support sets. The solutions are targeted at maximizing returns on investment for specific production requirements while allowing flexibility for emerging technologies to be incorporated and future applications to be addressed. Optima Plus solutions can be quickly and efficiently tailored to meet the requirements in different market segments across the world, from low to high volume, low to high mix, fast changeover and even entry mid-range lines. “Universal is qualified to integrate best-in-class equipment from printer to oven and on to end-of-line assembly. Most importantly, we back-up these customized configurations with process expertise, our global customer support infrastructure, and our line-level software to support line balancing and optimization, production management, and continuous process improvement”, says Heinz Dommel. Besides the hardware needed, the concept also includes training, spares, maintenance services and even finance through institutional partners. Now the expansion of Optima Plus delivers further customer choice with the addition of AOI, laser cutting, odd-form assembly, and test equipment, processes and support. Central to the full line solution options is the provision and maintenance of productivity tools including the line-level software. The company also has implemented strategic service partnerships to provide customers with access to the expertise of UIC’s Global Services team, its SMT Lab at Binghamton/NY and its Technology Excellence Center in Suzhou/China.
