Rohde & Schwarz has again achieved positive results in the first quarter of 2004/2005 with a plus of 16%. Last fiscal year 2003/2004 resulted in a total turnover of euro 940.8m (growth of 8.4%). It was also possible to increase the number of employees by approximately 300. The entire group now has 6150 employees, of which 4500 work in Germany. The company took over all its sale activities in the USA and Japan. For the first time, more orders were received from abroad than from Europe. As a self-financed company, it generates the capital required for growth from its own profits.
For president/CEO Friedrich Schwarz, the employees are crucial to success. “We have excellent staff and a special corporate culture. We respect all our employees regardless of their position, and we give them the freedom they need to develop creative ideas. This culture is the key to our being a company that attracts the best and the brightest. As a company with a strong focus on R&D, we can recruit excellent employees from renowned German universities”. The magazine Capital put the company rank 37 among the top 50 best employers in Germany. Reportedly, the trend in all of its business fields is positive: the Test and Measurement Division is supplying even more instruments to the telcoms, and Broadcasting experienced greater activity due to the digitization of television. In the future, the company is expecting a merging of these areas.
