Closer to the European Customer on Solderability
In its European facility, located in Milton Keynes, England, the Indium Corporation has begun manufacturing wave solder fluxes. This added capability augments the company’s existing production facility in North America and will improve customer service to the European consumer.

Indium produces a full line of wave solder fluxes, including leading-edge formulations designed for Pb-Free applications. The company features no-clean, residue-free fluxes that accommodate both Pb-Free and Sn/Pb processes, offering unique advantages during the industry’s Pb-Free transition.

According to Brian Craig, Indium Corporation’s European Operations Managing Director, “Adding wave soldering flux manufacturing to our European operations strengthens our customer service and support throughout the region. It also compliments the process-related materials we currently offer, including solder pastes, cored wire, and rework materials.”
Indium´s new wave solder flux WF-9942 for example offers three important features: It is No-Residue and No-Clean. It works in both mixed-technology and through-hole applications. It addresses the Pb-Free transition question, as it can be used with both Pb-Free and SnPb solder alloys.
Wave-Solder Flux WF-9942’s wide process window can offer excellent solderability, superior hole fill, and reduced solder balling on all surface finishes. This formulation’s tremendous thermal stability accommodates the increased temperatures used in the Pb-Free wave soldering process.
Indium Corporation Product Manager, Leo Devine, said, “WF-9942 is a great resource for people facing the Pb-Free soldering transition. They can now purchase one flux that satisfies their cumulative no-clean, mixed-technology, and Pb-Free/SnPb requirements. This truly compliments the complex requirements that the market faces in these times.”
Another matter of fact is that Indium will highlight its reliability program too. With the increasing demands for power and miniaturization driving thermal management issues, as well as SMT, CSP and PTH reliability, Indium is offering a comprehensive program that focuses on the products, services, and technologies to support a process engineer’s goal of optimizing finished goods reliability. This program is customer-driven, reliability-focused, and field-proven.
Indium’s reliability also includes NF260, a reworkable, Pb-Free no-flow underfill. NF 260 is winner of the Global Technology Award, Vision Award and EM Asia Innovation Award. This product has a durability in thermal cycling of about more than 2,500 cycles and in thermal shock testing. NF260 surpassed endurance expectations, with no failures after more than 450 drop tests. NF260 is fully compatible with the SMT process and offers a wide process window to accommodate solder reflow and underfill curing.
Indium Corporation is a three-time Frost & Sullivan Award-winning supplier of electronics assembly materials, including solder pastes, solder preforms, fluxes, Pb-Free solder alloys, underfill materials, die-attach materials, and more. The company is also the world’s premiere supplier of commercial grade and high-purity indium. Factories are located in North America, Europe, and Asia. fan
