With the recent takeover of Ekra, a Germany-based global supplier of stencil printers, Asys, has strengthened its market position as a solutions provider to the worldwide market. The transaction includes not only the German HQs but also the entire shares of the facilities in Asia and America. The company will be integrated as another business unit of the group. By adding to the existing printer portfolio, the goal is to provide users with a large selection of possible machine solutions. Ekra, established in 1946, has to date about 100 employees and delivers printing machine of all kinds. The equipment range includes use in SMT, thickfilm/hybrid, solar, and semiconductor packaging. The headquarters in Germany will remain as an independent unit. Asys was founded in 1992 and employs more than 250 people worldwide. Its global headquarters are located in Germany, and together with the support by two regional HQs in Atlanta/USA and Singapore, the group is actively promoting its products and services in more than 40 countries. These are integrated solutions for material handling, marking, depaneling, backend automation and the afore mentioned print. As managing director Werner Kreibl underlines, “This acquisition is an important strategic step in the history of Asys. We are supporting the German industry by securing more than 100 jobs and also by the integration of a printer specialist which is the perfect addition to our product portfolio”. Managing director Klaus Mang assumes that “with Ekra we have found a partner which allows us to combine know-how and technology to succeed and grow on a global basis”.
