The Ersa RPC 500 A is a compact reflow-process camera designed to watch the solder-joint formation during rework of board assemblies with advanced packages and other difficult components using the IR 500 A/550 A work stations. The vision system includes a high-resolution color camera and a 7 to 70x macro-zoom lens for clear pictures of even the smallest parts. The knowledge of the soldering process and the ability to see how a solder joint is forming are conditions for high reliability in SMT rework. During the process, the solder joint is visible and the operator can supervise the development of the solder connection. Reliable and repeatable rework results will be granted. As a solid platform for the IR rework stations, the base plate supplies optimal stability on the workbench. Mounted on its bottom side, the 180° swivel arm carries the camera and provides maximum flexibility of viewing angles. Height and viewing angle of the camera can be freely adjusted around the working point of the station. For any rework application, free visibility of the component and its solder joints are guaranteed. Two bright LED spotlights, fixed on top of flexible arms and very easy to adapt for best illumination, provide optimal illumination. The light moves together with the camera, and its intensity is controllable via the integrated potentiometer. Shutter control at the lens and light control will provide for rapid individual setting without reflections. The required zoom and focus for the best image can be set at the lens and fixed at this position. The XY worktable and the stand-alone cooling fan come as options.
