This year, over 400 international companies gathered at SMTconnect in Nuremberg, Germany and exhibited new technologies and processes with the specific focus of microelectronics.
With its new name and look however, it has broadened its covereage, from materials and components, manufacturing equipment, to reliability and testing, and software and systems, so visitors had the opportunity to see the entire value chain. This included traceability and quality assurance solutions, as well as, integration and M2M communication.
Many new initiatives were also set up for this year, which included presentations, panel discussions, and forums that incorporated trending themes.
The next tradeshow will take place on July 28-30, 2020.
Highlights and live tours
A variety of conferences, forums, panel discussions, and product presentations took place. They covered a range of subjects, including robotic soldering and other soldering techniques, bonding, inspection solutions, and more.
Technology Days: a knowledge sharing platform that took place for the first time. Over the three days, there were 4 seminars and 4 sessions in English, that focused on soldering and substrates.
EMS Park: a premiere of a show area, where networking opportunities occured. With seating and charging stations available, this was a great spot to exchange ideas in a relaxed setting.
Future Packaging line: Once a day, this production line had an English tour for visitors to be able to experience a live production line that simulated actual factory conditions.
The IPC hand soldering competition took place again this year with cash prizes and a chance to compete in the World HSC Championship.
