Thousands in the electronics industry invited to choose their inspiration

The decision of who will be the Opening Keynote at IPC APEX EXPO 2014, March 25–27 in Las Vegas, is being put to a vote. IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries is reaching out to past attendees and industry to choose the ideal speaker to kick off three days of inspiration, education and networking. The impressive ballot, which includes Academy Award-winning producer Jon Landau; astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson; X Prize Foundation CEO Dr. Peter Diamandis; and character actor Christopher Lloyd, were open until July 19.

“We’ve had great success asking industry to vote for the Opening Keynote,” said Sanjay Huprikar, IPC vice president of member success. “As a result, we’ve had standing-room only attendance … but most importantly, IPC is making good on its commitment to deliver what members want and continue to elevate the experience of this premier event.”
Jon Landau produced the two highest grossing movies of all-time, Avatar and Titanic. In his engaging presentations, Landau not only shares insight into the film industry and the complex state-of-the-art visual effects technologies, but also discusses the broader perspective of business management, innovative marketing and motivational philosophies, encouraging audiences to be leaders — not just in their careers, but in their lives as well.
Dr. Tyson’s professional research interests include star formation, exploding stars, dwarf galaxies and the structure of the Milky Way. During the Bush administration, he served on a nine-member commission on the Implementation of the United States Space Exploration Policy, and in 2006, he was appointed to serve on NASA’s prestigious Advisory Council. Dr. Tyson also hosted seasons two through five of NOVA scienceNOW.
Dr. Peter Diamandis is chairman and CEO of the X Prize Foundation, which leads the world in designing and launching large incentive prizes to drive radical breakthroughs for the benefit of humanity. Best known for the $10 million Ansari X Prize for private spaceflight and the $10 million Progressive Automotive X prize for 100-mile-per-gallon equivalent cars, the foundation is now launching prizes in exploration, life sciences, energy and education.
Christopher Lloyd is a renowned character actor whose wildly animated facial expressions make him a natural for roles as mad scientists and eccentric inventors, including Emmett “Doc” Brown in the Back to the Future trilogy. Lloyd rose to prominence in the 1980s in the television series Taxi, and co-starred on the big screen in The Addams Family, Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. IPC will send an e-mail to the thousands of industry professionals who have attended IPC APEX EXPO in recent years with a link to cast their votes.
