For its LightBeam system for selective reflow soldering, ATN has developed a solder wire feeder and a paste dispensing system. The rota-ry-positive-displacement dispensing mechanism combines the volumetric principle of skew pumping with precise control of time, pressure and quantity. Another helpful feature is a laser inspection system (based on triangulated measurement) for automated control of dispensing. In order to identify the moment of change of an empty paste cartridge, a fill-level measurement system indicates this by an empty signal. The dispensing controller cares for precisely control of cartridge pressure and pump speed, to provide a constant amount of solder paste.
