Panacol developed an optically clear adhesive: Vitralit 50004. The new adhesive is a one-component UV curable acrylic adhesive with ultra-low viscosity, which is used for bonding displays and laminating optics.

Vitralit 50004 adheres specifically to a variety of substrates including coated glass, PET and other plastics and films. It possesses a very low viscosity that facilitates fast filling of cavities without air entrapment. The UV curable acrylic adhesives cures quickly with minimal shrinkage for less residual stress between substrates.

Large-surface bonding or lamination of displays can be optimized by using Hoenle’s high-performance and energy efficient LED Spot 100 curing system which is perfectly matched to the photoinitiators of the adhesive. The alignment of the LEDs of the Spot 100 ensures high intensity and homogenous light distribution. Its heads can be mounted together without gaps to match the size of the display being bonded.

Once cured, Vitralit 50004 is very soft. Thermal stresses between dissimilar substrates can be neutralized without causing delamination. Its high degree of flexibility enhances performance through repeated thermal excursions. The UV curable acrylic cured adhesive is optically clear and non-yellowing with excellent light transmission.
