Optical Bonding System for use with acrylics or silicones
Global manufacturer and supplier of conformal coating and precision dispensing systems, PVA (Precision Valve & Automation, Inc.) was launching their new PVA710 Optical Bonding System at IPC Apex Expo 2013. The system is used to dispense optical bonding adhesives and assemble optical devices in atmosphere without bubbles. It is ideal for use with optically clear acrylics or silicones. Optical Bonding is the process of using adhesive to attach glass to the top surface of a display. The main goal is to improve the display performance by eliminating the air gap between the cover glass and the display. This procedure improves transmittance, seals against contamination and increases overall ruggedness of the final product. The PVA710 system provides a complete optical bonding solution including dam and seal dispensing and curing, fill dispensing and cover placement. Sample applications include bonding touch screen to LCD, cover glass to LCD, etc. The system employs a robust gantry system featuring precision ball screw slides driven by brushless DC servo motors. Every axis of motion features optical encoder feedback for a truly closed-loop process. The cover glass trunnion provides an assembly means where the bonded surface is not contacted by the system. The system can accommodate a panel up to 17“ at 16:9.
