RS Components, a distributor of electronic, electro-mechanical and industrial products, has launched its production packaging service in France, Germany, Italy and the UK. The service enables customers to order bespoke product quantities packed in reels, tubes, trays and continuous strips for placement directly into automated production equipment. It allows customers to order the quantity of components they need for their production runs, at no extra cost. The service is available for 40,000 products from 150 manufacturers across the semiconductor, passive, electro-mechanical and connector product ranges. “Production packaging is our newest service, further increasing our commitment to support electronic design and production customers”, said Ian Mason, CEO. “This significant investment is part of an ongoing program of new services we are developing to help our customers bring new products to market quickly”.
In stock and assembled to order in the distributor’s warehouse, the packaging process follows the highest quality standards. Attention to detail, such as adequate leader tapes for reeled products, ensures components work correctly on installation. Orders will be ready for same day dispatch, so customers can continue to rely on RS for next-day delivery. “The new service is particularly suited to meet our customers’ small batch production needs. It offers customers a flexible, cost-effective solution so that they can purchase the quantities they need for a particular project eliminating the need to hold stock or dispose of any surplus”, said Nick Jefferies, Head of the Electronics & Electro-Mechanical Division. The production packaging range of products will be available online, with a flag for easy identification. Customers will be able to see packaging format, set the quantity required, check stock, and place orders online. In addition to a quote line where customers can request Bill of Material quotations, orders can continue to be placed via telephone or fax.
