ITW EAE, a leader in process knowledge, services and manufacture of capital equipment used in the printed circuit board assembly and semiconductor industries, will showcase its latest developments at the IPC Apex Expo taking place January 25–27 in San Diego, California, USA. The ITW EAE booth #1433 will have MPM, Camalot, Electrovert and Vitronics Soltec Applications Experts on hand as well as Sales and Management to answer questions and offer solutions. The group brings together the world’s leading brands of electronics assembly equipment: MPM Printers, Camalot Dispensers, Electrovert Cleaners and Soldering Solutions, Vitronics Soltec Soldering Solutions and Despatch Thermal Processing Technology.
MPM will hold live demonstrations of the Edison II ACT (Automatic Changeover Technology) which is in the final stage of development. “This innovative patent pending technology provides a simple, cost-effective solution that can be implemented in progressive stages towards full automation,” the company said. “It is designed to be easy to use and simple to adopt and requires no additional skills to operate. The solution utilizes an Edison printer and a cost effective pairing cart designed to automate the changeover of solder paste cartridges, support tooling, squeegees, and stencils.”
Camalot will provide a sneak peek of an advanced tilt and rotate dispensing solution. “This innovative and new Camalot design reduces wet out areas and improves capillary flow for underfill and provides access to dispense on side walls underneath or around tall components,” explained the company. “Packaged into the Prodigy system the proprietary motion and controls allow articulation of the dispense pump in sub-degree increments for both axes as many times as you need, in other words total flexibility.”
Electrovert will showcase the new Auto Adjust Exit Wing that is being introduced for its wave soldering machines. “It automatically adjusts to achieve proper wave flow characteristics to avoid bridging and solder splashing. Electrovert will also be featuring the new DwellFlex 4.0 variable contact wave solder nozzle. The patent-pending design enables the wave width to be adjusted on-the-fly as variable board types are run through the wave.”
Vitronics Soltec will feature ZEVA Selective Soldering solutions with the patented SDC debridging tool which is now integrated with the n2 cone. “This design is only feasible with the design freedom of 3D metal printing technology. The nozzle is 3D printed out of stainless steel and is then hard chromized for an infinitely long service life. Vitronics Soltec will also showcase the Centurion Reflow Oven with True N2 to Air Switching. This is an option that no one else offers. With the push of a button you can automatically switch between true air environment and true nitrogen environment.”
ITW EAE will also share advancements they have made on interface solutions for Industry 4.0/MES that will lead to improvements in yield, data collection and overall equipment effectiveness.
