The Rohwedder/Pematech semi automated test (SAT) handling system has been designed to minimize operator error and remove production bottlenecks. It can be used together with in-circuit or functional test applications, combining the low capital expenditure of manual systems with the reliability and speed of automated versions. Fixture set-up time is said to be down to under 2 minutes, and handling can be reduced to less than 2 seconds. The SAT system leaves the test process to the machine, but the operator provides the simplified handling. There is an option to automating the handling of the pass/fail sorting process along with a conveyor system to separate such boards. Two models are available: the SAT-S features a shuttle tray, and the SAT-I has an indexing table. The latter option speeds handling time and allows up to three tests to be conducted simultaneously. Other options include a bar code reader, remote internet support and increased test area. The test area can be expanded from 200 x 200mm to 350 x 350mm, or at the SAT-I from 200 x 100mm to 350 x 250mm.
