National Instruments‘ PCI-7041/ 6040E board is a fast plug-in for real-time measurement and control applications embedded in desktop computers. Using the LabVIEW 7 real-time module and the graphical environment, users can create real-time applications. The board delivers high-speed, deterministic and reliable performance, capable of loop rates up to 26 kHz, and running up to 17-times faster than previous RT series boards. Engineers can use it to build customized real-time applications that run independently of the operating system on a host PC, protecting the application from system interruptions. When combined with LabVIEW, users have the tools they need to develop and run complex models for applications such as control and hardware-in-the-loop testing. A non-volatile flash memory stores embedded software, the user application and collected data, while a built-in RS-232 serial port provides communication to periphery. With the stand-alone features on this real-time board, engineers can even create deterministic applications that can run on a passive PCI backplane, completely independent of a host machine.
