Europlacer’s Xpress20 SMD placement system is a modular machine, combining high speed and fine-pitch capabilities within a compact footprint. At the heart of the unit is a placement head equipped with an in-the-fly vision system, to be used to analyze components ranging from 0201 to 50 mm2 QFPs. This advanced method of analysis reportedly results in remarkably short tact times, even when placing a high proportion of fine-pitch devices. The machine features two heads and 16 nozzles, and is fully compatible with Europlacer’s tape, stick and waffle feeders. In a high-mix environment, machine flexibility is a critical factor influ- encing productivity. Changeovers are simplified by the intelligent feeder-concept of this placer.
