The German Ingun Prüfmittelbau – based in Constance – has developed three Marking Units for marking “good” tested PC-Boards. A standard version with 60 mm length, a long version with 100.5 mm length and a Marking unit powered with compressed air for special applications. Due to its compact design and the M12 x 1 outside thread it can be easily built into the test fixture. During the testing process the spring-loaded hard-metal engraving tool is pressed against the PC Board. When the PC Board has past the test (and during the time when the PC Board is still contacted), a 12 V impulse signal is given to the motor of the Marking Unit. Due to the generated rotating movement the engraving tool marks a [ 2 mm circle on the surface of the PC Board.
The other Marking Unit is powered by means of compressed air. An electrical impulse signal activates a free positional solenoid valve. The applied compressed air is then passed onto the drive unit of the Marking Unit. The graving tool receives a combined rotating/stroke movement, is then pushed against the PC Board – and marks the PC Board with a permanent circle of 2 mm diameter. The compact design of the Marking Unit allows space-saving assembly in the test fixture. The separation of the drive unit and the Marking Unit itself minimizes the influence of electro-magnetic interference fields both on the PC Board as well as in regard to the measurement signal. The mounting of the Marking Unit can be carried out either with the outside thread MF 16 x 1, or on the shaft of the Unit with either the [ 12 mm or [ 4.5 mm section.
