The SMD pick-and-place machine CSM7100 from Essemtec reportedly fulfils the requirements of high-mix/low-volume environments. The low-cost equipment places a large variety of components – from 0402s to up to 33x33mm QFPs. The slim-type feeders are programmable, reducing changeover time and avoiding setup errors. The large number of feeders (up to 100x8mm) enables assembly of complex boards in one run, and allows for a broad range of standard components. Changeover is reduced to a minimum. The high feeder variety provides a wide application range and high flexibility. Barcode labels on feeders and components guarantee a correct and quick feeder setup. Tape reels, tape strips, sticks and trays of any size can be used. Tall components of 15mm height can be placed. All components are aligned “on-the-fly” with a laser-centering system. With this touch-less method, components are measured exactly and no damage can occur. Furthermore, the alignment system is self-calibrating and requires no maintenance. The equipment achieves a placement rate of 4000cph, is compact (footprint only 800x800mm) and features a large placement area (380x250mm). The operation software is key to machine flexibility; it provides a graphical man-machine interface, making operation and programming easy. The combination of this placer with a dispenser saves costs and floor space. A time-pressure or screw-valve dispenser can be integrated.
