With the latest version 3.7 of the Agilis feeder and high-precision tools, Mydata placement machines can now handle the tiny 01005-chips at high speed. The company believes that 01005-passives are soon becoming a standard, since they allow designers to increase board density and eventually enhance performance. The feeder mechanism features a type of support spring for the tape, geometrical changes and a stabilizer to better hold components in position. This not only ensures reliable feeding of 01005-chips, it also simultaneously reduces mis-pick rates for larger sizes. The company has also developed two high-precision nozzles for the Midas and Hydra mountheads in order to handle these microscopic component packages.
