Lead-free rework and hand soldering
OK International’s MFR Series (multi function rework) is utilizing Metcal SmartHeat technology for lead-free soldering and requires no calibration. With a single benchtop unit, highly complex assemblies can be soldered and desoldered using an array of tools. The power unit offers two ports to which any of the tools can be attached quickly for rework applications. For heavier or more varied workloads, multiple units can be interlocked to power as many soldering tools as necessary. The tools, heater tips and tip cartridges are easy to mount and use, and are ideal for lead-free materials. SmartHeat senses the amount of energy needed at the pad and providing this accurately and instantaneously. The heater tips are designed to meet the demands of point-to-point production soldering, while tip cartridges are suitable for high-performance rework applications. With this technology, reportedly solder joint reliability and quality are guaranteed, cost of ownership is minimized, throughput is maximized and the assembly protected from damage. Tools include, for example, the MFR-PTZ precision tweezers whose dual fine point adjustment and pivot action allows even the smallest SMD to be handled. The MFR-SRC rework cartridge for high performance operation; and the MFR-PST production solder tips. The Auto Standby and Auto Off functions help to save energy and prolong tip life.
