A registration mark sensor that assures optimum contrast in each application by automatically selecting between three built-in LEDs has been introduced by Banner Engineering.

The R58 Expert sensor provides a flexible, high performance solution with competitive pricing for a wide range of printing and packaging OEM systems.
With a rapid 10 KHz switching frequency and 50 microsecond response time, the sensor can easily support high speed applications. Its onboard microprocessor determines whether the red, green or blue LED will yield the best performance, and its contrast sensitivity detects 16 lev- els of gray scale. These advanced capabilities allow the sensor to deliver accurate registration in the presence of greater web flutter.
The sensor’s rugged zinc alloy housing and acrylic lens meet IP67 and NEMA6 standards for dependable use in hostile environments including food processing plants. Universal mounting holes are provided.
Models are available with either parallel or perpendicular sensing images to accommodate all system configurations. Push-button controls are easy to set and include static and dynamic programming plus manual fine tuning adjustment. Typical applications include web registration, tube filling, form-fill-seal packaging and material cut registration.
