Dymax UV-conformal coating materials 9–984-LVF and 984-LVUF now feature IPC-CC-830 and UL94 specifications. Dymax thereby completed certifications for MIL-I-46058C, IPC-CC-830 and UL 94 for its conformal coatings line, including 9–20557 and 9–986-F. The materials reportedly exhibit excellent adhesion to polyimide and endure thermal cycling even at extremes of to –40ºC. The cured coating forms a transparent layer on a board, protecting components and leads from moisture, dust and other contaminants. The viscosity of the material is formulated for consistent spray applications. Controlled dispensing optimizes the process and minimizes resin consumption. The flow characteristics are designed to assure coverage of leads of even large SMDs, without running to areas where protection is not needed. The UV-coatings cure in 5 to 20s under long-wave, moderate or high-intensity lights (200 to 1200mW/cm2). The material eliminates waiting on drying racks and allows parts to be handled, immediately. The coatings features excellent electrical properties, having high ionic purity as well as the ability to withstand harsh environmental conditions.
