Elektrobit’s JOT Automation material-handling equipment is fully compatible with Lead-free production. With the conveyor components it is capable of handling materials at temperatures far above even the higher temperatures involved in Lead-free processes. In Lead-free production, the temperature of PCBs leaving the oven can reach around 40 °C, higher than the maximum temperatures previously reached with tin/lead processes.
However, Elektrobit’s conveyor components can handle boards at temperatures of up to 80 °C, so they easily meet the Lead-free challenge. The JOT Automation line includes a Bare Board Unstacker, a Laser Marker, and a Single Magazine Handler. The J210–50 Bare Board Unstacker automatically feeds boards onto a production line and has a pass-through length of just 500 mm. The track height is adjustable from 750–1000 mm, while a support mechanism relieves the load on the boards at the bottom of the stack. The J502–22 Laser Marker is a YAG 1064 nm laser. It marks barcodes, 2D codes, text and graphics at up to 100 characters per second, and it has a PCB transfer cycle time of just six seconds. Despite its small footprint, it offers a marking area of 100 x 100 mm within a generous working area of 470 x 470 mm. The J215–33 Single Magazine Handler is ideal for high-mix, low-volume production and has a feed-out conveyor for unloading. The system offers an easy, no-program setup, and the track height is adjustable between 900 and 950 mm. All of Elektrobit’s JOT Automation material handling equipment is compatible with Lead-free production and will itself be manufactured from Lead-free components beginning July 2006.
