AOI technology demonstrated

Machine Vision Products (MVP) has demonstrated its AOI technology, offering the Supra M in-line system, as well as the GEM Series Tabletop with new easy-to-use iProÏ Software. According to MVP, this new software version improves the overall ease of use of the system with a newly redesigned graphical interface for quick algorithm set-up and guidance in setting parameters. The software will guide users on setting up the inspection parameters, resulting in a significant improvement in productivity and reduction of training time. It provides customers with the high-performance inspection capabilities of a rules-based system with the ease of use of an image comparison system. The Supra M AOI system is modelled on the AutoInspector 1820 series, allowing advanced capabilities in a smaller footprint. With full solder joint inspection and measurement capabilities, the system comes standard with one large-format digital camera and a high-precision linear x/y stage. The one-camera system allows a configurable field of view depending on the application. The standard pixel resolution is adjustable from 15 to 22 mm/pixel. The system has CAD-driven, library-based programming that allows the precise measurement of component placement and solder joint analysis.

Reportedly, this AOI technology is the fastest and most accurate inspection system available in today’s market. The in-line solutions offer fast inspection speeds, low false rates, and the highest performance anywhere in the assembly process, from post-print to post-wave inspection.
This AOI technology also includes a new high-precision Ultra 850G system expanding the coverage to wire bond and die placement inspection, and a Flying Color Technology that helps to broaden the defect coverage and to lower false rejects.
