Photoinitiated conformal coatings for PCBs offer several advantages over alternative protective coatings: Speed of cure, easy handling and solvent-free formulation. Since the cure is completed in a few seconds upon radiation with UV/visible light the choice of curing system critically influences the polymerization, quality and durablility of the conformal coating during later usage of the final part. The PC series of UV flood curing systems from Dymax are adapted to the requirements of an optimized cure of protective coatings for small and medium sized parts. Different models are available featuring medium and high intensities (80 mW/cm² bis 275 mW/cm²). Due to their modular design the configuration of individualized systems is easy. Lightshields protect users from UV light and are suited for benchtop applications. Alternatively, stand systems enable easy integration in automated manufacturing lines. The shutter can be activated manually or via PLC. Three lamp types offer the fast cure upon radiation with UVA, UVB or visible light. The optimization of bulb life has resulted in minimized operation costs.
