Solderstar, a leading supplier of temperature profiling equipment for reflow, wave, vapor and selective soldering, will use the productronica 2021 trade fair to launch its new datalogger: SLX. The company says the innovative thermal profiler “has been designed for operation with zero measurement setup, so it is instantly ready to use making the process of data capture quick and easy.” The company will introduce the new product at their booth, Hall A4, Stand 240, during the exhibition, which will be held from 16–19 November, 2021 in Munich, Germany.

The new system is an accurate, robust, ultra-compact, battery powered datalogger used for measuring and recording process parameters from any soldering process, the company said. Requiring no user setup, the unit can be docked onto any SMARTLink reflow heatshield or other process accessory and the system will auto-configure itself for data capture.

“We are extremely excited to launch the Solderstar SLX at Productronica. As the world’s leading trade fair for electronics development and production, it is the perfect platform to introduce our most advanced system yet,” Mark Stansfield, Managing Director at Solderstar said.

“Unlike traditional dataloggers, SLX automatically detects what test adapter is connected and intelligently auto configures the information. This removes the process of using a computer to configure the equipment for the test that is about to be performed-a real time saver!

“The unique Solderstar SLX measurement system allows faster and more accurate noise free measurements to be made from up to 12 temperature channels whilst simultaneously measuring from other secondary process parameter sensors. If higher channel counts are required then the new SLX can extend to 24 or 36 channels with special adapters.”

“Solderstar SLX datalogger elevates the capability to capture profile data and enables users to quickly gain accurate parameters to make insightful decisions. Thanks to its multiple individual memories, SLX can be used, cooled and run again with ease. This means that profiles can be taken from different processes like selective, wave or a reflow ovens as it automatically detects which process sensors are connected.”

The logger, sensor and memory status are displayed conveniently for the user via status indicators and a multi-bar graph display. The system can be ready to profile from as little as a ten minute charge, and has a 15-hour operation time from a full two hour USB charge. The new unit features many improvements and real performance, with USB download speeds 10 times faster than previous models, 2.4Ghz telemetry options along with increased measurement range all while still maintaining +/- 0.5 C accuracy, the company added. The new internal high temperature battery system is user replaceable and can be changed if required in seconds.

A full range of SMARTLink accessories for reflow, wave, selective and vapor phase soldering, are available and the datalogger is fully backwards compatible with existing systems making it a drop-in upgrade for the Solderstar SL.

The main benefits of the new system include:

  • Zero user setup for error free data capture.
  • Ultra compact datalogger for profiling of narrow and low height applications
  • User replaceable high temperature battery
  • Multiple memories for profile storage
  • Automatic thermocouple and logger temperature checking
  • +/- 0.5C accuracy from –200 to 1300 Celsius
  • Fast recording rates from 50 milliseconds per channel
  • Ultra fast USB downloading + 2.4Ghz wireless telemetry
  • Drop-in upgrade for existing Solderstar SL systems

“We look forward to welcoming visitors to our stand at Productronica and introducing the new Solderstar SLX datalogger,” the company said.
