A completely modular concept

Kirsten Soldering exhibited its latest generation of soldering systems – the Modula wave – at Productronica 2007. The system concept met with great interest and was awarded top marks by the professional audience. In an interview with EPP Europe, Bruno Ghidotti, CEO at Kirsten Soldering, talks about this new system.

What are the advantages and benefits of the “Modula wave”?

Currently we are offering the best wave soldering system, qualitatively as well as economically. The state of the art control management over the entire system represents a substantial innovation. With our electromagnetic soldering pump which can be seen as the heart of „modula wave“ and which operates without any mechanical moving parts, a 7 days 3 shift operation is possible without any major brake for maintenance.
High economy in respect to energy and solder is an important fact, thanks to the smallest possible soldering bath. The „modula wave“ is predestined to process highly-sensitive components. With our high speed hollow jet wave the wetting time is extremely short.
In addition to the integral process management and the unique horizontal transfer system, a further advantage is found in the modular concept. In this way, the „modula wave“, provides an attractive solution for all size of companies. According to requirements and investment capabilities, such a set-up lends itself to being extended up to the most comprehensive in-line operations.
Where do you market it?
This year our target is focussed on the European market. In the near future the product will be launched worldwide.
How many systems are in use around the world?
We are having a worldwide installed base of over 2000 systems with our patented, unique hollow wave. The modula wave as a new generation is not yet installed at customers. The first installations should take place in the third quarter of 2008.
Who is the major shareholder and who the manufacturer of your products?
As a worldwide quality leader we are offering our customers the highest possible safety and flexibility in their investments. With our range of products, with over 20 years of experience and market know how, with our strong financial partner Future Finance Corporation SA in Zug (Switzerland), and Stoppani AG in Neuenegg, Bern (Switzerland) who is responsible for the manufacturing of our state of the art machinery we are ready for the future.
Are you going to showcase the system at the SMT trade show in Nuremberg?
Yes, we will show the first complete and working system.
