Vi Technology, a member of the Mycronic Group, is a partner of the first edition of the 3D AOI Arena organized by the trade magazines EPP and EPP Europe, during productronica. Visitors to the 3D AOI Arena will have the privilege of discovering the new design of the K3D AOI range.

Under the hood of this modernized version, all the hardware and software evolutions recently introduced by Vi Technology will be found. By combining its latest high-speed laser 3D scanning head with the new smart scene analysis algorithm, this K3D features an inspection time up to 50 % faster compared to the previous generation. In addition, the system’s test coverage has been extended to include the detection of foreign material, down to 100 micrometers in size, and optical inspection of odd-shaped exotic components, such as custom connectors, with a fully configurable 3D metrology feature.

This K3D will also mark the advent of a brand-new generation of AOI programming software with the first applications based on the research in the area of artificial intelligence carried out by the Mycronic Group. New algorithms based on deep learning technology that are aimed at fully automating the programming thanks to autonomous component recognition and model creation. This will represent a major step forward for electronic manufacturers running high-mix production with a high pace of new product introductions.

This evolution of K3D AOI naturally integrates as an important building block for Mycronic’s MYPro Line assembly solution designed for the smart factory.
