Feinfocus‘ multi-focus tube technology (3 in 1) will be implemented in the nanofocus X-ray inspection system Fox, enabling users to choose between microfocus, nanofocus and high-power modes during operation, just with a single mouse-click. The microfocus mode is chosen for typical inspection applications such as ICs, PCBs and board assemblies, whereas the nanofocus mode operates in the low kV-range for highest possible magnifications, particularly interesting for flip chip and bond-wire verification. The high-power mode performs with an increased electron density on the target. This is typically chosen for denser objects requiring increased radiation dosage, e.g. mechanical components, but also for double-sided BGAs, etc. Upon purchasing X-ray equipment, every user has in the past had to decide whether he needs a microfocus or nanofocus tube – until today. Now that the multi-focus Fox is available, X-ray inspection is possible in all modes with one tube. This is of particular interest when users need to inspect a large variety of different samples and structures.
