The odd-form placer IPTE SpeedMounter now comes with active insertion control. This option verifies two-pin devices in every insertion position and pitch configuration. The programmable five-axes system offers the ability to control the presence of THT-parts without any mechanical set-up. At the same time, it supports the PCB from the underside, so even snap-in-parts can be reliably set on pre-populated boards without any difficulties. The insertion control drastically reduces the otherwise high tooling costs at the end-of-line (EOL) area. Additionally, the application flexibility of the machine gets higher, and batch-size-one can be realized without mechanical preparation. The insertion of odd-form or so-called exotic components presents a demanding challenge in SMT lines, since sophisticated procedures have to be accomplished efficiently. For this task, the SpeedMounter is a versatile high-performance inserter with a modular design that meets the demand for quick and efficient product changeovers, to deliver high application flexibility.
