IPTE NV is expanding its test automation activities with a new test team in Bruges, which will focus on developing test systems for LCD TV, telecommunications equipment and automotive electronics.
IPTE Bruges will employ around ten people from the recently closed Jabil facility in Bruges, formerly a division of the Philips TV production plant in Bruges. This means the team has a strong grounding in TV testing.
IPTE sees further growth opportunities in other areas, and wants therefore to extend its testing know-how, in particular in telecommunications and in automotive and medical electronics. The company presently employs over 1,400 people in facilities in Europe, the United States and Asia.
The Bruges test group is being developed in coordination with the existing test groups in Genk, Germany and France. It is also providing support to Philips Bruges and its subcontractors (Jabil, Elcoteq).
The test team will also support test applications for Connect Systems, the IPTE division providing Electronic Manufacturing services. Given the global nature of electronics manufacturers and their subcontractors, IPTE Bruges will also be offering its services locally to its customers.
