Asymtek enhanced its customer service with an e-mail shipment notification system that alerts customers the day their machine is shipped and when it arrives. The system also tracks the real-time location. For example, a customer provided Asymtek with his e-mail address and placed a priority order that had to be at his dock the following morning. The next morning, the notification system sent the buyer a detailed synopsis of the shipment: P.0. number, the sales order number, what product was ordered, how the shipment was done and the air way bill number. The link to the carrier enabled tracking of the shipment to discover where it was, when it was delivered, and who signed for it when it arrived.
