Alternative SMT has developed the MkII feeder-test jig to check the performance and functionality of a wide range of SMT machine feeders. The mechanism is an improvement to accept a wider range of different types, such as Fuji CP, IP/QP series, the Hover Davis equivalents and Phillips GEM feeders. It can verify the feeders at machine speed and identify bent feeders and tape leafs. Some of the machine´s special features allow to calibrate the pick positions and the tape leaf heights. It can also confirm the take-up real operation and check that the clutches are working correctly. The new design means that different modules can be added to the jig to accommodate more feeder types. The company is currently working to include Siemens, Philips FCM, Panasonic and Juki. The jig comes with a range of accessories such as master gauges and strips to calibrate the pick position and tape-guide checkers to confirm straightness, and debugger to verify socket and cable assy on Fuji and Hover Davis electrical feeders. The jig allows users to test off line. By doing so they can reduce the downtime caused by adjustments made to the feeder after it is mounted.
