GoIndustry and Adopt are conducting two on-line auction sales ending in the week after the Electronica trade show. This will enable show visitors to have a look at the SMT manufacturing machines in Grödig near Salzburg, just a two-hour ride from Munich Messe. Used machines and useful gear for the PCB assembly process will be purchasable in the auctions. The first auction will end on November 16 with most of the machines, and the other sale with feeders, accessories and board-handling modules two days later. The split in two auctions is helpful for bidders to know after the first run if they won bids on machines, allowing them to also bid for feeders or accessories needed along with the machines in the second auction.
The reason for the sale is the same as for the first one: space restrictions. Even after employing more staff (over 30 in Austria and Germany), the refurbish company can only achieve a limited throughput of overhauled machines leaving the stock. Therefore, selling some of the equipment through the auctions in “as is” condition, without refurbishment, seems reasonable. According to the company, these auctions offer some advantages. First, data and images of the equipment are available on the internet in an on-line catalog. Machine and assembly experts offer to answer additional questions. Second, loading the equipment purchased onto a truck is included. The auction sales are starting on-line on October 25th.
