Chief executive officer of Assembléon, Dr. Cor Scholten, has retired and Dr. Leon Husson has been appointed to the new CEO. Cor Scholten has headed the Philips daughter company during one of the most turbulent periods in the industry, and has focused in recent months on strengthening corporate presence in Asia. As Cornelius Scholten bows out as CEO, he will remain in an advisory role at Assembléon until the end of 2005. Leon Husson was VP Consumer Businesses of Philips Semiconductors, and he joined Philips in 1983. Previous experience with the company includes various product marketing roles, and plant directorships in the Netherlands and UK. The Dutch national has entered the SMT manufacturing arena at a time when the company is geared to become a leading player in the equipment industry through multifunctional solutions. Leon Husson (50) holds a master degree and doctorate in physics from the University of Leiden/NL.
