With integration of the Minic II compacting station on Schleuniger CrimpCenter fully automatic crimping machines, stripped wire ends from 0.22 to 6 mm2 can be compacted in an ultrasonic welding process. In addition to resistance welding, Schleuniger now also offers fully automatic ultrasonic welding to compact stripped wire ends. Depending on the CrimpCenter model, the compacting station can be integrated to process one or both wire ends as well as other processes such as crimping, sealing, twisting or tinning. After the cutting and stripping process, the swivel arm of the fully automatic crimping machine positions the stripped wire end in the welding tool of the compacting station. Subsequently, continuously adjustable servo drives close the tool according to programmed welding parameters and the wire end is compacted. Schunk ultrasonic welding technology has been proven worldwide. The system guarantees short cycle times and minimum heat exposure of wire strands during compacting. Additionally, welding of different materials such as copper and aluminium are possible. For quality assurance, parameters such as pre-welding / compacting specifications, welding time and welding energy are monitored and recorded.
