Just like in previous years, the SMT fair has been very successful for us. Despite the worldwide insecure economic situation the number of contacts made was at pre-year level. Great interest has been especially shown for our X7056 system with its integrated inspection concept, being able to perform both optical and x-ray inspection of PCBs. The success of the combined technology in the industry is due to the reliability and certainty of inspection of state-of-the-art components. All kinds of defects can thus be detected – inline and with high throughput. Although the SMT has a different main focus, our S2012PV product family for the photovoltaic industry also enjoyed great popularity. The S2012PV system offers solutions for the entire production process in the photovoltaic industry, inspecting above all features such as geometry, cracks, color, print image and micro cracks. The strong interest in this inspection solution corresponds in general to the boom in that sector. Photovoltaics is at present the industry branch exhibiting the highest growth rates by far.”
