News about conformal coating products
HumiSeal, a leading manufacturerand distributor of conformal coatings has announced that it will use the SMT Hybrid Packaging 2014 event in Nuremberg, as a platform to showcase a number of new conformal coating products. The company has made significant developments of its now well-established range with the introduction of a plethora of products including UV50, UV500 and 1B58. These products mark a significant milestone in the ability of coatings to meet the exacting standards especially in the automotive industry. Visitors to the Stannol stand (HumiSeal distributor) will be able to hear first hand just how far conformal coatings have come as the company again sets the benchmark.

So what’s new? The UV products build on the success of its highly successful and popular UV40 conformal coating, Following extensive R&D both the UV50 and UV500 products have been developed to significantly increase performance and meet or exceed the stringent test requirements that are found in the electronics industry today, specifically in the automotive sector where test environments can be particularly harsh. With 1B58, the focus was to create a coating that would deliver increased temperature stability and builds on the now established 1B51 product.
Compatible with high-speed airless application systems, UV50 helps to increase throughput and accuracy whilst reducing cycle times. The new product also displays improved thermal shock performance making it more resilient to extreme operating conditions. At the same time UV50 displays greatly improved compatibility with applications produced in a no-clean processes or where low surface energy substrates are an issue. The UV500 product takes product performance even further displaying excellent performance criteria enhancements over the legacy products. The ability to continually operate at higher temperatures combined with its improved thermal shock performance results in a very stable and reliable product. The high flexibility and low modulus attributes of the product delivers performance characteristics typically associated with silicone based products. Finally the product also demonstrated excellent protection against long-term exposure to high moisture environments.UV500 can also be easily removed for rework and repair of coated units. The 1B58 is the latest high performing conformal coating within the synthetic rubber category and builds on the highly successful legacy product, 1B51. With a maximum operating temperature of 140°C, the coating exhibits excellent stability across a large temperature range. It is a single part coating product that uses non-HAPs solvent (MCH) that can be applied by multiple methods and is compatible with most dispensing systems. Ease of rework is further enhanced by the products fluorescing properties when subjected to UV light. The coating also increases productivity thanks to its ability to be rapidly processed and is suitable for devices with a long service life.
Chris Palin, EME for the company, commented: “HumiSeal has been working hard behind the scenes and our investment in new technology and product research means that we can offer real solutions from across the chemistry spectrum. The launch of these new products re-affirms our position as a leading manufacturer of conformal coatings as we once again set the benchmark. Our legacy conformal coatings continue to be popular. However, technology advances and test environments mean that we could not sit on our laurels but had to engineer a coating that would meet the increasingly aggressive test and approval process being faced by us all. With these new products I believe HumiSeal has confirm edits commitment to ensuring we continue to supply conformal coatings globally that are capable of increasing the reliability and performance of the end use device. We are completely focused on continuing to deliver our customers a sustainable, competitive advantage by staying ahead of emerging technologies.”
