With the Matrix Tray Changer (MTC), Juki offers the possibility of loading up to twenty trays. Its ease of handling and functionality should not be overlooked either. The company treats ease of handling as of supreme importance. This is demonstrated by the matrix tray changer, where an indicator light shows which tray is empty. Preparation and replenishment of the components is made far easier. In addition, with its super low speed mode, the problem of components becoming increasingly smaller and also correspondingly lighter is counteracted. In this respect, the operational speed of the shuttle arm can be adjusted so that even light components are correctly positioned at the pick position of the pick and place machine. With the tray base orientation check, laying components in the tray the wrong way round is a thing of the past. The correct position of the tray is checked before the start of production with the help of a sensor. If a problem exists, the operator receives an error message.
Because the traceability of products down to individual components is gaining more and more importance and cannot be avoided at all in some areas, Juki offers the IFS-X2 upgrade as a solution for the MTC. This is an enhancement on the successful IFS-X2. Each JEDEC tray is provided with a barcode clip and is matched with a suitable position in the magazine. If the palette with the tray proceeds to the component pick-up position, it is automatically checked with an RFID label as to whether the correct component is in place. Thus faulty mounting is prevented. All components taken from the tray are automatically entered into the database with the associated information for traceability. Therefore, it is possible to determine in which production batch, on which circuit board and with which reference ID the component in question was mounted, without high expenditure and at a later time too.
