Inspection software for better results

The powerful new phoenix x|act inspection software from GE´s Inspection Technologies business finds application in manual inspection of electronic components, as well as fully automated CAD-based, X-ray inspection of solder joints in electronic assemblies. The software is available in three versions, all of which offer easier operation than previous packages, allowing more reliable operation. Important features include simple macro recording, permitting intuitive programming of inspection tasks with just one mouse click and automatic image enhancement to ensure greater precision of defect detection. The more sophisticated x|act operator and x|act pro upgrade packages can import CAD data of a PCB to create a model facilitating navigation, while x|act pro also features a library of inspection strategies with all the information required for the automated inspection program generation and inspection of many common solder types. The software operates with GE’s phoenix nanome|x X-ray inspection system, which can achieve detail detectability down to 200 nanometer. The system features an 180 kV open high power nanofocus X-ray tube with GE’s unique temperature stabilized DXR detector technology, which allows the acquisition of projections of small electronics specimens for computed tomography 3D analysis in just 10 seconds.
