A wide-ranging spectrum of hardware, software and service innovations for optimized processes attracted many visitors to the booth of the Siplace team. They included integrated solutions that allow line managers, operators, schedulers and the maintenance staff to perform their duties with more effectiveness and efficiency. Among them, the Material Tower which prevents material-related line stops as the company’s first storage system proved to be especially engaging. Great interest was also shown in one of the world’s most powerful placement machines: the X3 S which was equipped with the new LED Centering option. Gabriela Reckewerth, Director Global Siplace Marketing, was happy with the visitor interest: “We saw a lot of interested show goers at our booth, and we had many in-depth, project-oriented conversations. We also noticed that they are no longer only about our placement machines. Integrative tools and options as well as intelligent software are in high demand. Here too we can present market-leading solutions.“

The team is also a step ahead of the competition in the area of LED placement applications. It presented the patented LED Centering utility, with which LED chips can for the first time be reliably placed in accordance with their optical axis through simultaneous measuring of LED’s top and bottom. This managed to draw in many visitors as it creates entirely new fields of application in SMT production, e.g. for antiglare headlights. The new LED Centering proves how Siplace functions as an innovation driver in the industry. Our solutions are safer and more precise than any others,” said Reckewerth.
Another highlight was the Material Manager. With interfaces to IT systems on one side and its integration into production processes and machines on the other side, the Material Manager links the ERP system with the shop floor. The new software is able to control all popular automatic storage systems and even features one of its own in the form of the extremely compact Material Tower. As a standalone system, the MSD-capable Material Tower can be used as a forward supply depot for component reels in kitting areas and on the lines. When multiple units are combined into a cluster, it makes for a great main storage site.
Users of Siplace placement machines could examine a multitude of new options for their equipment in Nuremberg: space-saving JEDEC tray feeders (JTF), and the Very High Force Head (VHFH) with a placement force of up to 70 N. The interplay of them all was shown when components ranging from super-small 03015 to large odd shapes from the automotive field were placed during live demonstrations.
