Exact verification of objects to be tested with pneumatic and hydraulic pressures
IPTE Germany GmbH developed a test application means for objects that need to be verified with high pressures in accordance with advanced measurement standards. The customer requirement specifications contained special topics such as high pressure, vacuum, extremely stable pressure conditions during the tests, system need to be absolute leak-proof, autarkic and fast measurement cycles, as well as short cycle times. All these requirements have been successfully realized. The newly designed pressure test system has been integrated into a production cell of IPTE/Prodel’s AFP machine line. For the pressure tests the response time is only 10 ms (milliseconds), and this is true real-time. The controller of the real-time system operates entirely autarkic and assures shortest possible time for the response to changing pressure gradients. Up to a maximum of 32 channels can be monitored and measured simultaneously.

Pressure differences at the test object are measured within a tight tolerance of only 1 mbar (millibar). However, the system operating pressure can be as high as 10 bar. Via an electronic pressure controller it can be preselected in 10 mbar steps with an tolerance of 2 mbar only. The system also supplies vacuum down to –1 Bar. The test sequences are generated and edited on a separate PC which displays the measurements results, too. The test applications are programmed using the popular graphics-based NI LabView software package. The GUI (graphic user interface) for the operators can be individually designed depending on customer demands, as well as the representation of the test and measurement results. The first application at a customer site is the test of an ABS (break) module under the simulated conditions as they are present in the real vehicle. During this test the pressure differences and the tightness under all operating conditions are verified, as well as the entire ABS program in a simulation run, and also a leakage measurement of the product is provided. The new test and measurement system is aimed at the exact verification of miscellaneous time-critical parameters, time-critical test cycles, tests of time-critical electronic board assemblies and of diverse objects which have to be examined using different liquids, as, for example, water, oil, etc.
