Spring contact probes mounted in a test system must function perfectly, without any fault whatsoever. Poor test results or even damages could be the result if, at any given time, an erroneous spring force is applied. Information on the spring force or a possibility of measurement especially during the replacement of the contact probe is very instrumental. However, till date, not a single measuring instrument, specialised for this utility, existed in the market which was able to inspect the spring forces of the contact probes in an easy, efficient and practice-oriented manner.
Feinmetall has designed and developed the small, compact spring force gauge FK50 just for these cases. Its light weight of 700 g makes the FK50 ideal for the daily usage with a wide range of flexible applications. The instrument delivers reliable measurements on all conventional spring contact probes, irrespective of their manufacturer. The type of the probe (push-in/threaded, twist-proof or step probe) is thereby absolutely irrelevant. The spring forces easily can be digitally measured even with different projection heights of the contact probes due to comfortable adjustments of the measuring tip. The design and the length of measuring tip allow even difficult measurements in the depth of the test modules or fixtures. Three different types of measuring tip diameters are available: 3 mm, 4 mm and 5 mm. The adjustment of the nominal stroke is effected at the measuring tip of the FK50, which is then subsequently put over on the spring contact probe as far as it goes. The measured force is displayed on the LED monitor. The displayed figures can be simply rotated 180 ° for overhead applications. The FK50 is battery operated with 6 1,5V AA batteries.
