The new SmartStrip function makes Schleuniger’s UniStrip 2600 stripping machine smarter. Wire diameters are automatically detected and wires are stripped according to predefined processing parameters. Operator errors are virtually eliminated and loading different programs is no longer required. SmartStrip uses one or more wire libraries that can easily be created using the automatic diameter detection function. Processing parameters such as stripping length, pull-off length, clamping force and speed can be set individually for each wire. A sensor, which is integrated in the clamping jaws of the stripping machine, measures the outer diameter of each wire. Conductor diameter and other machine parameters are automatically calculated – making operator mistakes a thing of the past. Wires with different diameters ranging from 0.25 mm2 (AWG 24) up to 6 mm2 (AWG 10) can be processed in random order without any programming or changeovers. Processing “wrong” wires is simply not possible, because wires that are not listed in the wire library can’t be produced. Existing machines can be upgraded with the new function.
