Curing in a matter of seconds with energy-saving UV LEDs is enabled by Elpeguard thick film conformal coating twin-cure DSL 1602 FLZ/400. Its coating layer is tack-free, and thus in-line capable, just after UV curing.

Essential benefits of UV LED modules are made use of here: These are much more effective and energy-saving than common mercury vapour lamps, cooler when operated, and their lifetime is by far longer. Since the harmful ozone and UVC loads are eliminated, there is a lower hazard for the operator.

Twin-cure DSL 1602 FLZ/400 is particularly cost-effective due to short processing times: Functional checks and packaging are already possible shortly after UV LED curing, while the complementary chemical crosslinking reaction in shadow areas such as under components, contributes to optimising the properties by means of humidity from the atmosphere under room temperature.

Based on a solids content of 100 %, this system prevents any solvent/VOC emission and thus minimises environmental impacts.

The thick film coating twin-cure DSL 1602 FLZ/400 combines the final properties of a polyurethane system (UR) with those of the rapid UV LED curing unsaturated polyacrylates (AR) in a 1-pack copolymer which is distinguished by a strong performance under mechanical, chemical and climatic loads and extreme changes of temperature.

High resistance against external impacts

To resist extreme environmental influences, such as corrosive gases, even at the highest severity level GX according to ANSI/ISA-71.04, electronics are protected with the resistant 2-pack conformal coatings of the series Elpeguard SL 9407 FLZ. Thanks to their high moisture and insulation resistance, as well as a high flexibility under cold along with a good grip, the protection also covers high moisture loads and temperature changes from –65 to 125 °C.

More than one half of the substances formulated are renewable raw materials, while by the same token, the solvent emission is 5 %. This way, the addition-crosslinking conformal coatings of this series contribute to a sustainable conformal coating process.

Permelastic synthetic rubber

The special strength of the cold-flexible conformal coating Elpeguard UTC 1507 FLZ lies in its permanent high elasticity which is of particular importance under extreme temperatures from –65 to +150 °C. Conformal coating with the Elpeguard UTC 1507 FLZ enhances the reliability of operation of the electronics, even in a corrosive gas atmosphere of the highest severeness level GX in accordance with ANSI/ISA-71.04.

Among the further benefits of synthetic rubbers, there is a low permeability to water vapour and a low absorbance of moisture, as well as very good electrical insulation properties even under moisture, which are similar to those of silicones.

Cold-flexible acrylates of the conformal coating family

Thanks to a high thermal shock resistance from –65 to +125 °C over 1000 cycles, the conformal coatings of the family Elpeguard SL 1800 FLZ can be used flexibly both at high and low temperatures, thus allowing to increase the reliability and lifetime of electronic assemblies or optical components such as sensors exposed to moisture. These physically drying thin film coatings can be easily soldered through, in case of repair or removed by means of the dedicated thinner. A good crosslinking even of silicone-contaminated surfaces is achieved by the conformal coatings of the series Elpeguard SL 1801 FLZ.
