Stripping cables becomes more automated and precise
The SmartStrip option simplifies the operation of the semi-automated Schleuniger UniStrip 2600 machines where it recognizes the diameter of single conductor wires. This sets trends for stripping machines, achieving excellent results independent of the operator. The cable industry’s demand for precise stripping machines is increasing, and at the same time, there is demand for uncomplicated and error-free processes. The skill of an operator, who feeds the cable into the semi-automated machine, is becoming less and less important. A continuous stripping quality and exclusion of programming errors is the aim. This option delivers high performance, verifying the outer diameter of a single conductor, and then calculating the stripping values. Especially when wires of different diameters and equal lengths are to be stripped, this option shows its real potential.

First, the stripping and pull-off length have to be primarily programmed, and additional functions such as trimming and slitting can be activated. With the SmartStrip option, the sensor that is built into the clamping jaws measures the outer diameter of the cable at each stripping process. Taking this data, it calculates the value of the conductor diameter and all other parameters, such as the cutting and pull-off speed, the way back of the blades as well as the force of the clamping jaws. Programming errors are practically impossible, since a cable can no longer be incised too deeply. Without any hassle, different diameter cables can be processed one after the other without having to reprogram the machine. No matter what type of wire is processed in the machine, the result will reportedly always be of first-class quality. The option can easily be installed and/or be deactivated at any time. The unit could also be integrated into other machines in near future, and in the distant future such an option may allow for the entire analysis of a cable. Without any human interaction, it will be able to automatically and accurately calculate all stripping parameters regardless of cable insulation or the type of conductor.
