Splicing influences productivity by 25%

Siplace splicing material ensures reportedly uninterrupted line productivity and reduces SMT manufacturing costs by up to 25%. The optimized interaction of splice material, splicing tool and component feeders prevents expensive downtime of placement machines. The company developed the first splicing concept back in the early 1990s that lets operators replenish components without interrupting machine operation. By steadily continuing to invest in this concept and using strict quality control, reliability is ensured. By analyzing line breakdowns, Siplace realized that bad splices and interference caused by splices could reduce the overall productivity of a line by up to 25%. So, only quality splice material ensures that the productivity remains consistently high and in turn maintains efficient manufacturing costs. The Siplace splicing concept consists of three elements: feeder, splice material and splicing tool. Siplace feeders have been designed to easily handle spliced tapes. The Siplace splice material, which consists of rivet and adhesive strips, has been designed to work perfectly with the component feeders and the tape-splicing tool. With the tape-splicing tool, the end of the old tape is connected perfectly to the start of the new tape. This ensures that the extended tape will be transported without interruption.
