Low-cost rework must not lead to low quality. For this reason the Martin rework unit Hot-Jet-05 has been equipped with a soldering arm for a highly reliable processing of CSPs and BGAs, even in the modest price segment. The arm locates the tool in a defined position above the component, and a switchable magnet allows easy positioning on the working table before the soldering program starts. Depending on the application, it can be configured for chip components, QFPs, CSPs and BGAs, as well as for the removal of solder residues. As the cost depends on the application, therefore, there is no built in ‘ballast’ that has to be paid for whether required or not. Users can configure the station in such a way as to suit small productions or different rework tasks. The unit can be acquired as set for different applications or for individual tasks, and is based on the control unit with a soldering pen. Particularly notable is the absolutely precise hot-air temperature control (to avoid any risk of damage to board or adjacent components), as well as the additional heat delivery from an optional IR underheater. The latter is becoming more important with the lead-free process. The unit is supplied with a number of soldering programs.
