For rework on SMT/BGA assemblies, Ersa provides users with a software-based solution for its IR 550A rework system. Quality is the key issue of rework. Regardless of qualification and experience, virtually every user should be able to obtain repeatedly good results within a short period of time. The variety of assemblies and components in need of repair is often enormous. Each component requires its specific soldering parameters, and IRSoft provides the possibility to define target values for single soldering and desoldering jobs in a set. Apart from the temperature profile, which is defined by only four values, further settings can easily be stored together with board name and component ensuring the same conditions for future jobs. Two assistants guide the user through the profile-data transfer from PC to rework system and vice versa. These assistants can also be de-activated separately for practiced users. When the corresponding profiles are transferred, the closed-loop control of the IR 550 A provides an optimum soldering or re-balling process. For the user to start recording the soldering process, IRSoft offers several options: subject to the user’s practice, the data recording starts automatically as soon as a previously stored temperature has been reached, as soon as the process has been launched at the station or the recording is started manually. Apart from the set temperatures, it can also record the actions during the soldering process. The current status of all important functions can be documented. This way rework becomes a transparent process.
