Göpel’s Boundary Scan Coach provides interactive learning for all who are involved in testing of boards via BS. The tool provides answers to questions and applications about this method using a hands-on approach. The user is able to see the JTAG/BS step-for-step operation simply without the need of a real board or additional hardware. With this, it is possible to find out how a conducting path is controlled and measured, or how a data register can be shifted. Thereby, the user can select between virtual and real application since the software is additionally able to test a real board. The tool consists of two segments: first, the principles of JTAG/boundary scan are introduced, second, the user can deal with the technology more intensively and specifically via learning by doing. The results of different operation modes are displayed graphically for visualization. In principle, the software does not require any hardware because it runs in a virtual mode, but can be executed with the EZScan board for real hard and software interactions.
