Phoenix designed several customized tomography systems, the Vtomex-c. Usually, there is a need for customized X-ray systems if the standard configuration is not sufficient due to oversized samples or special manipulation/imaging features. In such a case a special configuration providing optimum inspection performance is being developed. The company’s solutions range from tomography systems with an extended detection area or other instruments with mechanics for automatic sample loading, to overlarge walk-in radiation safety cabinets which can be fed with samples of large volumes from a top flap. An interesting new concept is a combination of two X-ray tubes. The powerful directional tube is perfect to inspect samples with large wall thickness and high absorption characteristics, and the high-power nanofocus transmission tube can be activated when samples with microscopic structures are inspected where less X-ray power is sufficient and highest image resolution is required (nanoCT – computer tomography).
